Professor Kasim N Sheikh

Pro Vice-Chancellor for Social Justice and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law

Professor Kasim N Sheikh joined Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº in September 2025 as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Social Justice and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law. He came to Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº from the University of the West of Scotland, where he was Dean of the School of Business and Creative Industries.

Kasim brings more than 30 years’ experience in strategic leadership, having held several senior academic roles across UK higher education and worked at the Universities of Huddersfield, Kent, and SOAS, London, among others.

As a Professor of International Law and Human Rights, Kasim has served as an expert to the United Nations in international human rights and as an advisor to government, legislative, judicial and law enforcement in Western, Middle Eastern, and Asian states. Alongside his academic career, he has worked as an organisational specialist and management consultant leading over 30 commercial ventures and major international partnerships, including consultancy projects.

At Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº, Kasim leads the Faculty of Business and Law and holds university-wide responsibility as PVC for Social Justice. In this role he works with colleagues and external partners to deepen Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº’s civic and global contributions, supporting the work of the Stephen Lawrence Research Centre, the university’s UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 hub, and its extensive equality, diversity, and widening participation agenda.

Kasim is committed to values-led leadership, a strong international outlook, and ensuring that universities act as drivers of fairness, opportunity, and positive change in society.
