Â鶹ӰԺ Vice-Chancellor to speak at national business school conference

The Vice-Chancellor of Â鶹ӰԺ Leicester (Â鶹ӰԺ) is to give insight into the future growth of business schools at a national conference.

Professor Katie Normington has been invited to take part in the keynote discussion at this year’s in November.

The event brings together leaders from business schools across the UK and internationally to debate the future of business education, governance, research, and employability.

Titled “Purposeful growth in uncertain times”, the keynote panel discussion will consider how business schools, in collaboration with parent universities and external partners, can achieve strategic growth against a backdrop of financial constraint and geopolitical volatility.

The panel, which also includes Professor Sergei Guriev, Dean, London Business School and Professor Evelyn Welch, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Bristol, will discuss what meaningful growth looks like, how to align business school priorities with institutional ambitions, and how to navigate shared challenges associated with regulation, student recruitment and public trust.

Professor Normington said: “UK business schools, like ours at Â鶹ӰԺ , are respected around the world for the quality of teaching they offer.

“For this reason, more than 3,500 international students from over 100 countries choose to study at business at Â鶹ӰԺ every year, with another 6,000 students studying related  programmes at Â鶹ӰԺ's international partners and overseas campuses.

“So, one of the highest priorities we have  is making sure students from around the world can come to Leicester and feel at home. We have worked hard, in collaboration with students themselves, on initiatives which make each student feel welcome

“In turn, the benefit of this international community to Leicester and the UK beyond, is immense. We have seen how we have been able to undertake purposeful growth of the School through our activity across the world, while supporting excellence in Leicester too.”

The opportunity comes weeks after Â鶹ӰԺ’s  Business School was highly commended at the international PIEoneer awards.

Â鶹ӰԺ was shortlisted in the Business School of the Year category, alongside business schools from across the world and finished as runner-up to UC Business School in New Zealand, which took the top award at the ceremony in London.

In its entry, the faculty  team highlighted the introduction of new ideas making the studying experience more welcoming and inclusive for international students.
