We offer more than a degree — every course is designed with employability and real-world experience at its core.

Â鶹ӰԺ is one of the few universities where you’ll benefit from a unique block teaching approach.

Enhance your studies and broaden your horizons, and develop new skills with our international experience programme, Â鶹ӰԺ Global.

A HND in Business offers practical, career‑focused training in key areas like marketing, finance, and management, preparing you for the workplace or further study.

This Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business is awarded by Â鶹ӰԺ and delivered at our partner institution, Leicester College. On successful completion, you have the option to top up to a full BA (Hons) Business Management degree by completing a third year at the main Â鶹ӰԺ campus.

  • Career-focused and practical – study core business subjects across disciplines with real-world relevance and application.
  • Tailor your studies – choose a general business pathway or specialise in Marketing or Human Resource Management.
  • Industry placements – gain valuable experience with companies like Rolls Royce, IBM, Walt Disney, the NHS, and Siemens.
  • Successful graduates – alumni go on to roles such as Business Analyst at Capita, Supply Manager at Cummins, and Analyst at Vodafone.
  • Block teaching – study one subject at a time, helping you focus, engage deeply, and enjoy a study-life balance.
Block teaching designed around you

You deserve a positive teaching and learning experience, where you feel part of a supportive and nurturing community. That’s why most students will enjoy an innovative approach to learning using block teaching, where you will study one module at a time. You’ll benefit from regular assessments – rather than lots of exams at the end of the year – and a simple timetable that allows you to engage with your subject and enjoy other aspects of university life such as sports, societies, meeting friends and discovering your new city. By studying with the same peers and tutor for each block, you’ll build friendships and a sense of belonging. Read more about block teaching.

What you will study

  • Block 1: Foundations of Business Management
  • Block 2: Introduction to Marketing
  • Block 3: Accounting & Budget Management
  • Block 4: Human Resource & People Management
  • Block 1: Finance and Reporting for Management Decisions
  • Block 2: Contemporary Issues in Sustainable Business
  • Block 3: Business Research and Analysis
  • Block 4: Choose one
    • Ethical and Responsible Leadership
    • Global Operations and Supply Chain Management
    • Work Based Management Project

Additional costs

The core textbooks for all modules are available in the Kimberlin Library, and journal articles in your reading lists are also mostly available electronically from your myÂ鶹ӰԺ login.

All students are required to pay for their DBS check if required for your programme or placement.

In addition students will be required to pay for their travel costs to placements or project locations.

All students are provided the opportunity to participate in Â鶹ӰԺ Global trips. These trips are subsidised by the University, and the cost and subsidy varies by location.
